Ouch. HCI (HIGH SCHOOL) Choir was completely outclassed...or rather, totally humiliated today. Gah, the first choral exchange and it's was a disaster. The set piece White Horses...Just paled in comparison to that of most of those other schools. And for our chosen pieces Uj Szovetneket and Yagi Bushi. Sigh. Uj Szovetneket was really boring and Yagi Bushi...The Baritones (That's me included) entered late at one part and well...Pretty much screwed up the impression of us others had.
I can't say I contributed to the songs in any positive manner though. I think when I sang I added to the dreadful side of all three songs...The only time I sang everything (except the part we entered late since I sort of sang the first note, got confused as to why no one else was singing then stopped halfway) was during Yagi Bushi. It's my favourite song...And I think our star piece. Why did we have to screw that up? For Uj Szovetneket...I just can't do it...Opening up. Maybe Kevin's right I'm too tense. Though I think I'm just terrible. I kept quiet during most notes...And for White Horses, I kept breaking halfway. Opening up...The key apparently is to sing like Theron speaks. Like how am I supposed to do that? As for my lung capacity...I don't know. I guess I'll just have to somehow get both of these things right before SYF.
Sigh...Singing kind of resembles Math doesn't it?

Determining how capable you are:
Take potential to be a constant p and variable talent to be x.
Then you have training quantified to become t. And guidance y as a coefficient of t.
Hence, capability quotient CQ = p^(yt+x) when p, t and y > 0.
Funny, my only A1 subject this term is Math.
"Boy, am I good at numbers."

"Some kind of therapy is all I need"
It's not fair...I don't understand.
"Couldn't I blame something else?"
Is it even intentional?
"Could it be it I'm suffering just because I'll never in?"
The disparity is just...
Too torturous.
I know I can't take it.
But I must.
Why do I even care so much?
It won't matter soon. It never does in the end.

Gah, pompous self-righteous pigs who think they know everything should be strained until the last drop of oil is extracted from them. The oil naturally is used as fuel but the skin, blood and all? Nourishment for my babies of course. "Truth is what everyone pursues" indeed? Hmph.
I'd like to rip the wool off his eyes and show him reality.
Funny, I don't even know him. But I've read enough.
Oh yes, Slumdong millionaire's an Indian fairytale? You might want to try Chern Yuen's blog review, it's much more of a fairytale than the actual movie.
Desultory post really. I must get back to my Chinese YZZK article review; writing about how humans should be disposed of. It's going to be so much fun!

This week's updates include: You love affection and the people in your life more than anything. Your greatest fear is that one day someone you care about won't be there anymore. You are a very friendly and inviting person, who draws in a lot of friendships with your kind, considerate, and loyal nature. However, deep down you are slightly insecure and unsure of yourself. You couldn't deal with it if you didn't have one of your loved ones in your life anymore. You don't have too much to worry about though, because with a friend like you, no one will want to lose you either!
1) Predicted failure of IHC and Biology that was supposed to galvanise better performance now most likely will become reality.
2) C5 for Chemistry. Don't laugh.
3) Desmond's essay was chosen to represent the school, making my wish come true in some unexpected warped manner. Yes, I did say I wanted one from our class...Argh curse you all!
4) Choir turned out great in the Econs lesson room. And dang, I forgot to read Ming's essay.
5) Theron ascended from newcomer status to "The Chosen Few" that sings some part near the end of Yagi Bushi.
6) I probably did NOT get Best in English.
7) Went swimming for the first time in...8 months?
8) Went for THREESOME and it was quite blast! Met Liki there who amazingly knew my name!
9) I love my French teacher.
I guess I am adapting to the absence of the Beijing people now. Although I do admit I seem to be much less jovial without them around. And when I'm quiet, my mind just wanders. And soon the seven sins and various bitter thoughts cloud my head. Sigh, still...There is the occasional laugh here and there. But much fewer without yanyu now. I don't know. It's like...When you draw memories out of you into a pensieve. Just that in this case you substitute the memories with joy. Strands of silvery cheer. Yanyu and chomz seemed to have stole some of mine away to Beijing. But it matters not I suppose. On the bright side, I talk to Darren more. And he of course, all powerful according to Kevin, is interesting in his ways. Though a tad bit repetitive. But hey, it's his trademark.
Now with a review of THREESOME, Greg's play that I attended. Well, on the whole, I have to admit it was fabulous. A threesome (obviously) of "Three Fat Virgins Unassembled", "Love, Food & Babies" and "Proof" went rather well with my empty stomach. I sat through all three without any abdominal discomfort at all despite skipping dinner. It was a less than grand affair with about two hundred-odd people in the almost cramped but cosy Studio where the performance was held. There was no stage but rather a working space right at the front with elevated stands that sat the audience, semi-encircling the actors and actress. It started off with a simple identifiable play about three fat virgins. Crude at times yet elegantly delivered, the play made the audience laugh almost the whole time as the many definitions of a fat virgin were revealed. What I've learnt? The transition between a man and a woman in the gender transformation process - A fat virgin. Of course, there's always the sidenote: Every woman has the potential to be a slut.
"Love, Food & Babies" explored the much more common themes of in-law conflicts, expectations of marriage and family. It started off with likening men and women to food with the impressive seductress impression of a vampiric she-boss. Then a relationship slowly blossomed between the two who compared spouses to food, but it was unfortunately cut short as the play started to focus on the marital issues of another couple. And finally, a father and two sons with conflicting views about family. It did serve as a passable transition on to the finale - Proof. Good yes, but still, not spectacular.
"Proof" started out the best with an intriguing twist in the first scene. And as the play progressed, it managed to draw me deeper and deeper in. But maybe because my where I was seated or the Studio's architecture, I couldn't catch the lines 40% of the time, so much so that at times I had to lean forward and cup my ears to sort of enlarge them. And after the initial kiss between Greg and the other actress Salima, things started to get a little draggy. It was a brilliant concept of course, investigating if proof really did exist. It was all about mathematical proofs. And then about proving whether Katherine (Salima) did indeed come up with a revolutionary mathematical proof found in a diary kept in her father's room with her father's handwriting, who conveniently revolutionized the field twice before she was born. After the kiss scene (Lips but never really shown as it blacked out before I could actually see anything. Or it could just be my placing), Greg fans would love the subsequent hugging and real kissing on the cheek. Then everything went on, with the Katherine's sister so wonderfully played showing concern for Katherine, shifting the point of contention to whether or not Katherine should leave Chicago and stay in New York with her sister. And in the midst of the other conflict, the matter of who came up with the mathematical proof, I thought the flashbacks weren't properly introduced and might have been a little distracting. Then again, my hearing was quite impaired. And as Harold (Gregory) sits with Katherine (Salima) one last time as they talked...I thought the ending anticlimatic! Because I couldn't hear anything except for incoherent rumbling. It is a pity really. But overall, easily the best play of all three. With Salima playing her role...presque parfait. And her father who was really convincing but not that audible. Not to mention Gregory's extremely real impression of perpetual nervousness. And last but not least, the sister's professionalism which really struck me as professionalism. It was a good lot of fun that play, but the minute flaws? It's a little hard to keep up with it sometimes, probably because I can't really hear some parts. And of course, the numerous times the f-word was used. I lost count really. Liki was an affable presence next to me. And I realised, one with an astonishingly sharp mind. I'm glad I left the school in his hands then. To those who think he's really all the way up there in the clouds of Olympus, he's pretty much your average Hercules, with about a gazillion times the power.

Theron's recent post just wrenched my attention from my respiration notes.
We talked with Mrs Chen today about mental disorders after Biology. Me and Kevin. I made a joke to Darren after she left, saying I should look for her to ask about any disorder regarding an addiction to murder.
I wonder about how I say I want so many people dead. At times I mean it. At times I don't. But after reading Theron's post, I still remain myself on the issue of who I think deserves to die, but it's the matter of taking people around me for granted that shook me.
Funny, but the person I think I take for granted most is my grandfather. Someone I claim to love the most. Maybe it's because I've gotten used to him now that he's moved into my house and I don't say goodbyes or blow kisses anymore when I leave my uncle's house. Or that he can no longer walk out to buy me meals while doing groceries, together with the occasional chocolate or ice-cream. Or maybe the incessant cries for company and attention that I treat so lightly after more than a year of pestering. But I merely greet him everyday now, though he is the only person I greet, but still that's a far cry from how I would try my best to make him smile.
No more time perhaps? Overwhelmed by the tirade of academics, leisurely fun and social interaction...Somehow or rather I've forgotten someone that I still hold the closest to my heart. I may want some people around me to die left, right and centre. But certainly not my grandfather. I can still remember the spells I've cast in a charmed craze to prolong his and my grandmothers' lives. Charms and the like. Together with the yearly greeting of good health. And when I would address him as a Chinese emperor, bestowing upon him thousands of years to live. Not to mention my priority want in any prayer or birthday wish.
I wonder when my spells will wear off, when life finally takes its toll on him. I don't know what will happen.
Except that I'll cry. Cry more tears than I ever have in my entire life.

It's not fair! How can it snow in Beijing now when Singapore's flaring up? Gah, the bias of Mother Nature. Bradley gets room 11, that is Kevin's room, and I've got a feeling Yanyu got mine haha. Fate works in wondrous ways really. Now the only regret I have is not having left a message there or something. And perhaps not going out gallivanting enough. But hey, it was still lovely! So once again, have fun BSCers! Enjoy your SNOWING SPRING wonderland. Sniff, I want my flowers. And snow!
And by either some rare technical problem or evil mystic force, I am unable to access my windows live mail. Even though the password is most definitely correct. Grrrr.
I hate this all. I have French tomorrow and two tests on Thursday! So now I'm struggling to absorb as much as I can today, and then tomorrow. Because I'm not about to fail two of my A1 subjects!
Look at the pathetic sentence structure...Not to mention vocabulary...My head's still reeling from Sunday's 2am sleeping and 4.30am awaking in preparation for Chemistry and Literature.
I have decided to stop snapping that often after I discovered my ability to on Sunday since it gives Theron a new reason to start imitating me! And did I mention he doesn't do it well?
*Insert muffled incoherent roar*
Lalalalalalalalalalalalalala. I must get through Thursday.

I don't think it's normal for the average teenager to harbour homocidal thoughts is it? The last time I checked, most of them tend to harbour suicidal ones in this emo era. Xujun's writing a play about the sane and the insane and I'm promised the role of a homicidal maniac. Funny, it seems that's what I've been thinking about these few days - Killing people...People dying. With the BSC people leaving, more specifically Yanyu and Chomz, I don't know about me anymore.
Emotional weakness on my part? Lyinne would scoff. Whatever happened to cold and calculating me? Perhaps. I just know it won't be the same, or rather, it'll be much more difficult. No more cheery chomz in front of me to put a smile on my face or to turn to during math. No more Yan yu to talk to in a non-westernised manner and laugh about xujun-type jokes.
Difificult. I'll adapt of course. Like everyone else does. But how I will is the question. Withdraw further in and strengthen my defenses? Think more sadistically? Descend into despondence? I don't think so and I certainly don't hope so. The ideal case of course is to spread my roots elsewhere. After all when I'm repotted...I need to try the other kinds of soil don't I?
Hmm...I might even grow better.

In her cell there was peace. Silence. Darkness. And the inevitable gloom.
She looked on out of the window. Ignoring the occasional spider that observed her with piqued interest or the various half-wilted blossoms that gazed at her pleadingly, she stared at the raindrops that splattered against the plexiglass. Lifting a finger gently to it, she felt the desultory staccato of pulses as raindrop after raindrop disintegrated upon contact.
How long had it been since she felt the rain on her skin, the clear fresh waters that hydrated her soul, unlike the sterile chemical-laden kind she was provided with. She smiled wistfully at the tranquil scene outside; a blank concrete wall, the asphalt path and the rain that seemed to fall in sheets of gentle grey on the barren plots of soil.
There were times when she was happier. Times when she would dance and sing to the rays of gold together with her floral audience. Times when she would treat spawn of the Machine with her earthy compassion and hospitality. She would pour her heart out, using every iota of her strength and motherly instinct to nurse the young ones that sought refuge with her to health. But as fickle as the cruel weather, the Machine would change, most hideously, into a living maelstrom, intent on destroying her regardless of her care for their kind. She didn't like it, not one bit. Everything was just...much too unpredictable...much too dangerous. And when she returned, beaten and worn from another war with the Machine, she then discovered that her beloved blossoms had been ruined, helplessly massacred by ruthless winds of the storm.
And so fearfully she had retreated into her metallic cell once more, bringing the few survivors in as well. She knew they would never grow well, not even with her touch, cursed to be trapped in a state of ugly injury, in a cell of the Machine without the sun or rain. But at least...
She walked up to them and watered them lovingly, drenching them in the filthy poisons of the Machine.
At least they would be safe inside. No cruelty, no pain, no suffering. No passion, no joy, no vibrancy. Just life in a simple monochromatic grey. Just...like me.

Only outside did she realise how very vulnerable she was. Exposed. Skin, flesh and bone.
The sun's rays brought her no comfort nor solace, as did not the winds that tickled her or the soil whence she drew her essence. She took everything in initially, relishing the wonders that Gaia herself bestowed upon her once more. And yet, slowly but surely, the reality of the situation crept in, an innocent wisp at first, before it expanded and augmented to become that miasma that clouded, that choked.
It wasn't worth it, she decided. Whatever joy or pleasure she could derive from all that ensured jubilant growth...Just paled in comparison to what damage could be done by baring herself. So very readily, so...naked. The burden she would be willing to carry just for some security wouldn't be light. She would be constantly suffocated, restrained, deprived. But just for some protection from outside, she wouldn't mind.
Not when the horrors outside were supposed to be what nourished and cared for her.
Her very pillars of support...
Turned out to be just another batch of parasitic weeds.

Back with an A2 for Physics. My best grade ever for it since...two years ago. Brilliant! And guess what? I actually got the same score as Jonathan Khoo! "Now alleged" "Demi-uber" of the Sciences and Mathematics. Tsk. Fallen from grace haven't you? Of course, he vows to beat me in every other Science and Math related subject for the coming and future tests. Reality is...He probably will but well, I hope for more millenium necklace curses to strike him. Then muhahaha! We'll see won't we?
On the other hand, I haven't been faring very well in shoddybattle with members of my class. In ladder I do fine, winning 6 times while losing once today. But I lost to Szeto twice yesterday, discovering the now-obvious fire weakness both have. Of course, his team was totally unpredictable with all the wrong attacks on all the wrong pokemon. And just today twice to Chaoxu, whose Sandstorm team...Well is probably more suited than required to fight mine. But those still are excuses...I did make quite a few mistakes...Anticipated wrongly...Made a few bad switches here and there...Nonetheless, I'll just have to keep improving my team and my skills of course. Bright side, Yan Yu's drawn into Pokemon battling too! So cheer on for him! (He's learning real fast!)
Song-that-was-stolen-from-others of the random-blogpost-day:
Spoiled - Joss Stone
Lovely song, horrid video.
I kinda thought that I'd be better off by myself
I've never been so wrong before
You made it impossible for me to ever
Love somebody else
And now I don't know what I left you for
See I thought that I could replace you
He can't love me the way you do
'Till now I never knew
Baby
[Chorus:]
I'm spoiled
By your love boy
No matter how I try to change my mind
What's the point it's just a waste of time
I'm spoiled by your touch boy
The love you give is just too hard to find
Don't want to live without you in my life
I'm spoiled
I tried to tell myself that I'd be over you in a week or two
But baby that was 'bout a year ago
I've never seen the word love so personified as I do with you
And that is why I just can't let go, oh no
[Chorus]
Spoil me
And I would only be fooling myself if I tried to
Believe there's room for someone else in my heart
There ain't no way I'm getting over you
I don't know what I've been trying to prove
I'm hopeless, helpless when it comes to you
[Chorus]
I've been spoiled yeah yeah

And the first Math test ends, with me leaving the last part of the last question undone (4 marks) and well, not attempting either bonus question.
And considering the fact that I got flustered and failed to remember that the Pythagoras theorem existed, resulting in getting part a of the last question wrong...(That means I get all subsequent parts wrong). Well, if I get method marks, perhaps I'll scrape an A1. If not...
It's my fault for failing to prepare earlier. Kevin said "simple" and theron "confirm A1 (But still groaning incessantly about mistakes he made)"...I know it's an easy test...
Oh well, if I ace the next test...Maybe an overall A1 for the term. But right now, I've got the Physics test right ahead. And I intend to get at least an A for the first time.
Friday was a bore really. The most interesting thing was choir, followed closely by the Math test, in terms of neural stimulation. The lessons were passable. With Chinese current affairs panel discussion in the morning which was...plain with the usual mix of people who don't prepare and suck, people who prepare but still suck and those who don't need to prepare. I think it rather disgusting how Jordan and gang behaves during Biology. I mean please...As if directly speaking to the teacher by shouting across the class, openly insulting her and disrupting lessons by making stupid observations wasn't enough...At least give her the goodbye bow? Leonard was trying to get the class to do it and a few of us stood up but...Gah. I feel sorry for Mrs Koh. Jordan's good at heart, but just really immature...Well at least in Biology class. Chinese was almost a torture writing an essay...About abusive fathers...
And after school, I had to go for the silly W6 symposium rehearsal thingy. Which was a colossal waste of time. It supposedly started at 3, but we reached there at 2.45...And let it drag all the way to 3.30 and then have each school's representatives go up to give their opening address which was generically something like "Good afternoon distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen. Today I'll be presenting to you about
Jonathan Khoo, I read your blog posts and am happy inform you that there will be no end to this. Because you do not like me as an enemy. No you don't.
On a sidenote, I feel more and more demoralized by the English lesson (as in, by the second, by the day) because Rosalind isn't revealing whose essay(s) got chosen. But if only one can be chosen, I really hope it's Theron's. Because on the overall platform for literary evaluation, he scores higher than any one of us who submitted. Not that any of the submissions are bad of course...Mine lacks vocabulary and is a tad too kiddy. Chomz's is cliched but close to the heart. Kevin's fits rather nicely but doesn't have the...X-factor that makes it stand out. Theron's only weakness is that it seems very compacted. Like it was supposed to be this long flowy essay that was squeezed hastily into 1500+ essay, at least for some parts. Which is the truth really. If only we could elaborate and describe more...But for now, we'll just see...4 entries from Sec 3 and 4...Really hope at least one comes from our class.
I reiterate Jonathan, armaggaedon is here. For your world.

Now for the latest Me/Jonathan Khoo Pokemon saga, we've got a MSN conversation! So some background knowledge first:
- I lost to Jonathan Khoo with my outdated sandstorm team with a Garchomp (I know...Illegal...But it's outdated!)
- It was with a nonchalant mood that I accepted his challenge as I spent more time on editing Theron's essay than battling
- Jonathan lost to Chaoxu with the same team he won me with

Dear CSE Students,
This afternoon around 1 pm, I took a walk around some classrooms. I
noticed that all the 4 SMTP classrooms on level 3 of Block B were
very dirty. One of the classrooms (SC1) was wide open and the air-
conditioner was switched on, though there was no student using the
room.
When I walked around the HP rooms in the Tower Block, I was happy to
note that all the classrooms were sparkling clean. I was equally
pleased with the cleanliness of the BSP and LEP rooms at the Kuo
Chuan Building.
I would like all SMTP students to meet and plan how they should keep
their classrooms clean. They should also work out a plan to make sure
that they won't waste electricity any more. They may wish to consult
their HP friends to find out how they are able to keep their rooms so
clean. They may also wish to seek advice from their SMTP teachers.
I expect a proposal to be submitted to me by next Friday (6 Feb) 2
pm. Privileges for SMTP students will be withdrawn if I don't get a
satisfactory proposal by Fri.
Pls be reminded that all CSE students have to be self-disciplined and
responsible in looking after the school facilities.
I look forward to your cooperation.
Hon
Now now, since everyone's talking about this, I'll give my humble opinion as well. Now look here darling principal. My class is on the second floor, certainly not the third. So don't go blaming the entire SMTP just because majority of its classes aren't up to their cleanliness standards. And I admit our class did fail to switch off the air-conditioner at least twice now and well, we're currently paying for it, id est not having air-conditioning for a week. Not that it matters of course but the point is you're generalizing, PRINCIPAL. The oh-so-great HON committing the simplest of natural fallacies. Naturally. Now I'm all for humanities and all but please don't go on placing HP or any other special programme at a higher level than us just because we seem to be dirty and they seem to be clean. Yes SEEM you big oaf. Food in the mouth? Well you probably caught us and them at the wrong time because I assure you honey, there's more to discipline and responsibility than class cleanliness alone. No offense my HP friends and the entire HP as well but we all know SLIM's always crapping about your superiority. I'm not all that programme-patriotic but at least I know when fingers are pointed wrongly at me. Fault doesn't lie with you guys. You keep your cleanliness up! It's our lovely principal that fires randomly like Kim Il Sung. So of course we'll come up with a proposal because in your wool-covered eyes, we are one bonded SMTP that helps each other in times of desperation like this aren't we? And as Hwa Chong gentlemen...Urgh.
You're delusional darling.
Delusional from all the narcotic effects of poisonous mushrooms.
Sigh.

Faced with certain doom ahead, i.e. Mercer's intertextualities essay, Studying for IHC written test, Math test and all the other crap that accumulated, I smile.
It's Mingxuan's best policy, which I'm adopting.
So this hiatus (Which was also an excuse for me to slack) proved to be fruitful considering I managed to churn out a proper Commonwealth essay! My theory is that you slack for the first three days of the holidays provided for Chinese New Year. Then make yourself resolute about doing work on the 4th and 5th day. DON'T do work on the 4th and 5th day but read. Spend the 5th night writing and the whole of the sixth day doing so, ignoring the rest of the homework. There you have it! A raw commonwealth essay! Then plead with the teacher for a time extension and voila! You've got the wonderful weekend to slog your guts out (Write, read, RA3) by finalising your essay. Finally finish it on Monday, 12.53, amidst consulting and helping others. Why slack so long you ask? Because combining my own theory with Yanyu's (Stare at the answer long enough and it will diffuse into you), if you read and then slack for a period of time, the material will dissolve into your brain cells and eventually your mind and consciousness, turning you into this text-dominated writing monster. Coupled with a screaming theron, that's just about the right mood for writing/editing.
HURRAH! That's the first coherent, serious Commonwealth essay I completed.
But Leonard's right, never take the word limit seriously. Well at least for the first draft.
Tsk, back to Lit essay.

Toxicodendron Radicans
Toxicodendron radicans is a plant in the family Anacardiaceae. The name is sometimes spelled "Poison-ivy" in an attempt to indicate that the plant is not a true Ivy (Hedera). It is a woody vine that is well known for its ability to produce urushiol, a skin irritant that causes an itching rash for most people, technically known as urushiol-induced contact dermatitis.
